Conquering Trepidations

Image
Quite often, most people expect so much of you. If not, they deliberately underestimate your capabilities. Along with those, there are personal and spiritual hurdles too, ergo you’ll find yourself pushed down or challenged. I’d like to believe that I do the latter.  It is my hope that you'll decide to do the same after reading this.      I may raise a lot of eyebrows on this statement but I’d like to believe that I was one of the popular kids in high school. No, I was not one of the smart ones. I just happened to be one of those whose presence is commanding because my personality dictates it. I didn’t have a specific group that I go with. I tried my best to mingle with different people as much as I could ─defying the usual teenage status quo to be with a peer group. That way, I could veer away from peer pressure. I know, I was being hard at myself but that was a personal decision that I promised myself since ...

Riding the Canopy Glider (aka Flying Lizard)

Image
I never learned to ride a bicycle [yeah! what a wimp!] This canopy glider offered by Dahilyan Adventure Park sure is the closest thing I can ever get to riding a "bike". This canopy glider is more fun though  since I don't have to worry about having an unforgiving fall,  and the most fun part is, you're riding in mid-air! The ride isn't for everyone as you'll find yourself in a great cardio work-out. There's a weight limit too. The Park has a weighing scale if you're not sure how you're doing :). The whole ride is 600 meters long. I was sweating profusely when it was all over but it felt so good! If I'd ride the canopy glider everyday for 1 week, I tell you, I'll lose weight fast! My, after the ride, I was hungry! The ride costs Php200.00 on weekdays [I missed to check the rates but I think they  add Php50.00 on weekends]. Tips: Put on some Sunscreen. Make sure you have bottled water on hand. You...

Kayaking @ Lake Apo

Image
For those of you who followed my plog, you probably already know that I have a penchant for water. I love being on the water so much that  I learned to swim on my own when I was 5. ;) This entry, however, doesn't show you my swimming prowess  (I'm not that good of a swimmer  anyway.  Haha!). I'd like to share to you my plog on kayaking at  Lake Apo, Guinoyoran, Valencia City, Bukidnon. The lake is a 4-hour drive from Cagayan de Oro City. It is advised that your ride is a 4-wheel drive to get there. The terrain is slippery and some bits could be rough too. Lowriders can forget about getting to the destination. I'll write on my next plog entry where we stayed for the day. Meanwhile, more info about Lake Apo,  here . **photo credits to LBL and Kent Heyasa

Sidetrip to Mantianak Botanical Garden and Zoological Park

Image
I've been to a handful of zoos and botanical gardens in my lifetime but whenever I go to one the experience just is different every time. Mantianak Botanical Garden and Zoological Park in Sugbongcogon, Misamis Oriental I must say is North Mindanao's pride. The place is well-kept and the people there are very accomodating. You can have a picnic in their garden and you can stay for the night too. Check them out, here !    * click on the photo/s to enlarge
